Strauss is a “boutique / bespoke” TV/Broadcast lighting facility warehoused in Dural, 40 minutes North West of Sydney. The company has a large depth and experience in the acquisition of broadcast images. A dedicating understanding on camera systems, exposure, shot composition and lighting techniques. The clientele has been broad over many decades, independent producer / directors, production companies, advertising agencies, TV Networks and corporations direct.
The facility has been owned and operated since 1981. Prior to that Grant spent ten years honing and developing his craft at a major Sydney TV Network.
Strauss Productions Pty Limited is a registered Australian Company (ACN 002 167 781) established in 1981.
Strauss is the vehicle in which Grant Watson (AKA “Doc”) has functioned as a DOP / Gaffer / Lighting Director. Strange combination but one compliments the other! I have no problem just lighting. Grant loves his craft, and supported by a dedicated of freelance professionals who share the same goals.
The client base is broad including independent producer/directors, production companies, advertising agencies, television stations news and current affairs or clients and corporations direct. Strauss also runs a lighting truck/ gaffing facility that is dry hired with Grant or other gaffers familar with the truck and equipment.
Strauss has grown steadily and is able to offer solid location production facility advise, co ordinate and supply all your technical location or studio requirements through to “hands on” shooting the job be it tape or film.
Grant holds both Australian and British passports enabling him to work freely in the UK and throughout the EEC. When at home base in Sydney, Australia, Grant and the crew travel to many different locations as required be it by road with equipment travelling in Strauss trucks and vans or by air depending on the production requirement.

The Strauss team headed by the principal Grant Watson, AKA "Doc" is well versed in all aspects of lighting design. Vectorworks planning, instrument schedules, rigging, lighting console set up, set electrics and co ordinating departments to produce an on screen result.
The business owns and manages a large and diverse inventory of equipment all crafted to deliver a creative, efficient and cost effective result.
